Career background:

I attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and worked for various interior design firms during this time. Once I graduated I began working at Kitchen and Bath Galleries and have been here since then.

How you became interested in kitchen/bath design:

At an early age, I became interested in design and the way it affects people’s lives. You home is your sacred place and you want that place to be exactly right. In the very heart of a home lies the kitchen. People gather there to be with one another whether cooking, eating or socializing, which is why it is important to make this room special. We live in a fast paced society and so it has become inevitable that we need a place to relax in. The master bathroom has become just that – our “sanctuary” to unwind in. It is wonderful once a client is able to obtain that in their bathroom. Both the kitchen and the master bathroom are essential spaces in your home and it is a joy being able to assist people with these.

Design philosophy:

Everyone has a different idea of what good design is and for me, I find that definition in my client’s wishes. I know that I have done my job as a designer when my client feels content. A space should be functional for those that live in it and I believe that a designer is there to work with the client to help discover their true vision.

Favorite part of the job process:

Although it is bittersweet at the end of a project, knowing that I was able to help my client accomplish their goals is the most fulfilling part of the experience. Here, at Kitchen and Bath Galleries, our client comes first and so seeing how happy they are once they have the space of their dreams is extremely rewarding.

Outside interests/hobbies:

When I am not working on a design I can be found teaching Pilates, shopping, going for a run, or just spending time with my family and friends.
