Career background:
I have been working with Kitchen and bath Galleries for six years, after a successful sales career in our Cary location I moved to Southern Pines where I have owned and managed this location for the last three years.
How you became interested in kitchen/bath design:
Kitchen and bath design has always intrigued me; it was the specialty that first brought my attention to the interior design field. During my education I worked with several projects that focused on cabinetry design, one in practical worked with a family that had a physical disability and I thought this is was how I would be able help people, making their lives easier.
Design Philosophy:
Keeping design simple and functional is my main goal when creating a space, whether working with a heavy ornate style or asymmetrical contemporary I like to bring some sense of continuity and flow to it.
Favorite project/kind of project:
A remodel is what I enjoy the most; I pride myself on thinking outside the box so I don’t think in terms of what they have now. I present design ideas that work better than what exist because I have used a different lay out or configuration; it might include a small renovation not previously considered but will make the biggest bang for their buck. The transformation in the end is what I really love, so often customers comment on how they can’t even imagine this is their same kitchen.
Favorite Part of the Job Process:
My favorite part of the job process is the very beginning, after my first meeting with the customers. Back at my desk I review the notes on the client’s wish list and then play around with the different lay-out options, it is so exciting to see how a design comes together incorporating function and style together. |
